Select the proper blade pattern. It is usually easier to cut across your body and not away from your body. Example: a left cut blade pattern model will best suit your needs if you are cutting a curve from right to left across the front of your body and you are right handed. A right cut blade pattern model will best suit your needs if you are cutting a curve from left to right across the front of your body and you are left handed Keep blades in adjustment for ease of cut. Out of adjustment blades allow material to slip sideways between blades as handle pressure is applied. (Blade re-adjustment instructions are listed on packaging or can be found by clicking the link above). Hold snips so that blades are at a right angle to material being cut. Keep blades clean by wiping with a light coat of oil. Do not use aviation snips for cutting or nipping hardened wire, springs, nails etc. Work safely with hand tools and always wear safety goggles. Be careful of sharp edges on snip. Fully close snip and latch when putting back in tool box or tool belt. |
